Black River Banded Agate 4 lb. 5 oz   Collected Pre 1964. Beautiful skin on this agate with a polished window into it.
Purchased from a rock shop near Cave Junction, in Southern Oregon that shop had at the time several 55-gallon barrels of pre 1964 Uruguay banded agates. The owned told me that after 1964 in that country they used explosives to open up more agate finds, and those explosions had caused a lot of good agates to have fractures in them.
From my personal collection, I started building this collection in the late 1990's. This is the first time in more than a decade that anything in this collection has seen daylight, everything was carefully packaged away until now.
