The July 26th Movement was the name given to the anti-Baptista revolutionary group in Cuba, led by the Castro brothers and Ernesto "Che" Guevara. although the July 26th Movement was not declared a Communist movement, it was a vastly popular fighting force that had many Communists, Socialists, and other egalitarian members. the rebels landed in Cuba in 1956, and by 1959...they had taken the capitol. from 1959-1965, the July 26th Movement became the United Party of the Cuban Socialist Revolution as all other pro-democratic groups joined. in 1965, they became the Communist Party of Cuba who still govern the island of Cuba today....as they continue to be inspirational worldwide, especially in South America.
