You are purchasing 2 pounds of American stable turquoise that we have pulled out of our vintage Bell/Maisel 1970s buckets, along with other newer American Turquoise. Every single lot is unique, and many lots have lots of Bisbee mixed in. Hand picked from the buckets that we purchased, originating from the Michelson family - that is the family that owned the famous Bell Trading Post on Rt 66 from the Great Depression (1932), all the way to 1979 when the company closed as “Sunbell”. They also bought out all scrap turquoise from Maisel in 1972, so some it can trace to that turquoise as well. It’s an incredible story, and it was an incredible to find it in the back of an old warehouse some ways outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Chain of Custody is publicly published on our online company site. On the technical side, some of this material will need backing to thicken it. It’s good solid material, it’s not paperthin. This is incredibly historic material. The actual turquoise that you are buying, and that you see pictured, comes from King Manessah, Morenci, Bisbee, the Lavender Smoky pit, Ithaca Peak, Kingman, and more. The beauty of these pounds is that it will come completely sorted so even though you’re looking at the beautiful turquoise that you were actually going to buy, when you receive it it will be more exciting as each piece will be individually packaged and labeled. This is all “like gem quality”, the highest grade of all the stabilized material that came from the old Bell and Maisel Trading Post factories.
It is very Important to know that this material is constantly being sorted out of the many old buckets and barrels.
